Do You Need To Upgrade Your ECU?

Why release a new generation of ECU?

The G4 series of ECU including. the G4+ have been a solid choice for many car owners and tuners over the last decade, and it has even received a somewhat recent update via the G4X, so what specific features would warrant the move to a new generation of ECU with a Link Engine Management G5 Voodoo Pro?

In a nutshell, direct injection is the answer, and the new platform allows the use of both direct and port injection from 2 to 12 cylinders. While they were at it, LINK ECU added GPS capabilities as well as dual drive-by-wire (DBW) and wideband controllers as onboard/built-in features taking a bit of extra leg work out of what are now very standard requirements for many setups.

In more basic terms, that means DBW throttle control on your V8 engine will control your throttle bodies and your oxygen/O2/lambda sensors (one on each bank) out of the box without the need for additional modules to be added.

CAN Bus, a strong point of the older Link G4 platform, has also received a little overhaul, with the addition of some features to help protect the IP of professional tuners doing custom work on your behalf if you haven't taken the HPA CAN Bus Communications course yet.
