Essential Skill For Car Builders | Hose End Fittings

Oil, fuel, brakes, power steering, coolant, and more are found on any performance vehicle, and reusable hose ends like AN fittings are a popular choice for dependable fittings that are easy to use and remove for general maintenance.

This free lesson has been taken directly from the Motorsport Plumbing Systems course and explains how such fittings are used on 2 common options: rubber hose and PTFE (Polytetrafluorethylene) hose.

For the best results, we do recommend you use the specialist tools that are readily available for these fittings, along with making sure you take care with the aluminium threads to avoid wasting time and money replacing cross-threaded mistakes.

Reusable hose ends, like some AN fitting options, are a great, reliable alternative to crimped or push-on hose ends and are a popular choice for performance and motorsport applications that see regular routine inspection work or changes.

Make sure you pressure test your hose ends/fittings before using them. Trust, but verify.
