Final Checklist

01.45

00:00 Now that our tune is complete, it's always worth running through one last set of tests to check the operation of the engine and confirm you're 100 percent happy with your tune in every part of the map.
00:11 This test will check all the common areas of engine operation and give you the confidence your tune is correct.
00:18 We're going to start by checking our idle speed control and idle mixture.
00:22 This is one of the first areas we tuned, so now the rest of the map's complete, we want to make sure the idle mixture's still where we want it and the idle speed is correct.
00:33 Next we want to check the performance at cruise, as this is where road cars will spend most of their time.
00:39 We want to start driving the car and get to a point where we're cruising at a normal road speed and RPM that you'd expect to see on a motorway and also on an urban street.
00:50 Look for accurate control of the EFI at lambda one and feel for any hesitation or jerkiness.
00:58 Next we can check our full power tune again by performing a run through the gears.
01:06 I like to start in second gear, at 2,000 RPM, and go straight to full throttle, which also allows me to check the acceleration enrichment.
01:15 Run the engine to red line in each gear and shift until you get to the top of fourth gear.
01:20 This let's you check the AFR under sustained high load operation.
01:26 If everything checks out, this is the final step and you've just tuned a car from start to finish to a professional level.
01:34 Following the HPA ten step process means you can be confident you've addressed every critical aspect and you haven't overlooked anything.
