Road Tuning: Avoiding Transient Enrichment
Avoiding Transient Enrichment
01.09
00:00 | One of the most important aspects of road tuning is to make sure all your inputs to the throttle are as smooth as possible. |
00:07 | If you're aggressive or jerky on the throttle, this can result in the ECU applying acceleration enrichment fuelling which will affect the mixture displayed on your wideband gauge. |
00:16 | This can have you chasing your tail trying to make changes in the main fuel table to account for the additional acceleration enrichment fuelling. |
00:25 | If you're making changes to the fuel map based on data logging rather than live changes watching the wideband gauge, this is even more important as it's easy to overlook any acceleration enrichment which may be seen when reviewing the AFR data. |
00:40 | For this reason I always suggest adding in a logging parameter for acceleration enrichment so you can see when this is occurring in the log file. |
00:50 | If you're not seeing smooth and consistent AFR numbers, this could be a result of acceleration enrichment. |
00:56 | When you make changes to the throttle position, do so slowly over a period of a second or so. |
01:02 | This will avoid acceleration enrichment becoming active. |
