WinOLS Mastery: Map Identification & Editing: Step 5: Write File to ECU
Step 5: Write File to ECU
01.00
00:00 | - Once we've made our tuning changes, we're going to need to write the new file to the ECU so that we can assess the effect of these changes. |
00:06 | This is really just a reversal of the process we used to initially read the file from the ECU. |
00:11 | To start with, we're going to need to export the file from OLS in the correct format for the tool that we'll be using the perform the write. |
00:18 | Once we've done this, we can simply load the file into the software for our flash tool and perform the write process. |
00:24 | Generally if your ECU can be written to via OBD2 then this is the process that we'll be using. |
00:30 | Even if you've completed a bench read as recommended, once you've done this and have a full read of the ECU, we can then work via OBD2 for subsequent writes. |
00:39 | We only would need to revert to a bench flash if we were trying to recover the ECU. |
00:44 | There will be subtle differences in the writing process depending on the specific tool you're using but the general principles remain the same. |
00:52 | As usual, you can check the practical skills section of the course for further information. |
