I was hoping to leverage the expertise here to help with a question I can’t find an answer to:

If I remove my brake booster (2011 WRX STI) will I be able to retain my ABS and Dynamic Stability Control?

Eventually I’d love to get a full Bosch M5 installed but I’m a bit far away from that point financially. The OEM brake plumbing and ABS routinely proves problematic and is not confidence inspiring on track. However, I do like retaining the DSC as cheap insurance incase I do anything dumb on track, the DSC can save me from myself. Any information or perspective on beiing able to remove a brake booster with a pedal box and appropriately sized master cylinders while retaining the ABS and DSC would be greatly appreciated.

I can't see why this would be a problem. To the best of my knowledge there are no electronics contained in the factory brake booster or master cylinder and the ABS unit only really knows that it's being provided with high pressure brake fluid so I can't see why it would matter how this is provided. I haven't done this myself so while I expect you're going to be absolutely fine, it goes without saying that you should progress with caution once you hit the track and thoroughly test to confirm everything is functioning as expected.

Thanks for the reply Andre! That makes sense to me too. An experience opinion like yours gives me the confidence to give it a try. My thought is I’d like to get a pedal box, properly sized MCs, etc and just run the OEM ABS/DCS system till I can save enough for the Bosch M5 unit. Thanks again.

Brake switch and pressure sensor are needed for DSC, ABS, as well as DCCD on that car so you'd need to sort a solution for that, plus making a pedal box accel pedal work with the stock ECU might be a challenge or impossible so hopefully you'll be using a standalone.

Thanks for the input Mike! You are always very helpful! I was looking at two pedal options for clutch and brake to avoid the throttle issue, but the brake switch and pressure sensor weren’t things I was tracking yet. Sounds more and more like I should just leave it alone. Unless I just go full standalone one day. Thanks again for your time and input.
