Mitsubishi Airtrek Turbo 2.4L E85 - drag racing

Hi everyone.

I started this project very long time ago and my first ET was 15.11. I had 2L engine and Evo 9 turbo back then. Now I'm running 2.4L stroker on E85 fuel and my best ET is 9.8 with Mamba GTX3584 turbo making 2.8 Bar of boost. I'm using standalone HKS F-con V pro Gold 3.24 ECU along with stock ECU ( to control 5-speed automatic transmission). In 2020 I'm planning to install aluminum conrods, PTE 6466 turbo, Tomei 290 camshaft with solid lifters, 250 HP direct port NOS system and try to make low 9'th on the quarter mile.

Wow, very unique build. Whats been done to the transmission to handle the power? Would love to see some pictures.

Hi. Well, stock transmission surprisingly appeared to be quite strong which was not expected at all. However we changed the planetary gears for the new type which has thicker pins (from Evo 9 vagon GTA), installed Borg Warner friction plates, enlarged oil channels in hydraulic valve body, upgraded the valves and raised pressure across the entire transmission system. And reduced gear shift timing as low as possible. That is pretty much it we have done.

I forgot to mention 4200 RPM Torque converter, rear Evo X RS LSD and front Evo 9 helical gear.

Forgot to post it here that best ET was improved to 9.5 with the same set up. After that i built another engine ( as was planned) with aluminium conrods and installed pte 6466. Due to covid thing no pulls were done with new set of hardware so it's planned for 2023.
