Hi, I am tuning my IS300 2JZGE vvti with a Haltech PS2000. The cam angle advances with RPMs with 0 duty (or even with the solenoid unplugged) from 0 at idle to around 10 degrees by redline. I can add more advance but not take any out. I would like to have 0 advance at high rpms.

Some information that may be relevant:

Forged bottom end, OEM cams, upgraded valve springs, GTE oil pump, oil pressure 120psi hot. OEM timing belt, VVTi gear has approx. 70kms just resealed.

I am thinking its either a mechanical problem or possibly the ecu is not reading the position correctly. Does anybody have any experience with this? Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Rashid

Hmmm good discussion. Maybe oil is leaking past the control valve and advancing the the gear? Could the high oil pressure be causing this?

I wonder if your cam belt/chain tensioning mechanism could be failing. I think the idea of a leaking control valve makes sense also. Let us know what you figure out.
