I wanted to post on here to see if it is possible to modify the GM ECU or Chrysler/Jeep ECU to communicate with one another. I am transplanting an LS and GM trans into my 2014 Jeep JKU Rubicon. Both operate on a CANBus system but cannot speak to one another. Is it possible to modify and make common the language so that they could operate harmoniously? The Jeep BCM and ECU require a lot of information to ensure gauges, AC, heated seats, trac control, differential locks, sway bar disconnect, etc to function properly. I am also willing to use an Aftermarket ECU/TCU and harness to run the powertrain, so if it’s not possible within the factory GM hardware/software, is it possible with an aftermarket setup?
What engine was in your jeep? 2.4L i know were 29bit
G'day Dustin. That's a pretty advanced project there, and not one I would recommend for just starting out. Getting those two systems from different manufacturers to talk to one another seamlessly would involve hundreds of hours of reverse engineering I would suspect.
I'd suggest running your powertrain on aftermarket electronics.
