Hi All
I brand new in reverse engeineering of oem
can bus.
We are busy building an Alfa giulia to race endurance.
We would like to collect data from the oem canbus and log with the dash
I have worked through the on course and found it very good.
I would like to if its possible to collect data from the can bus to see the amount of fuel used for a duration of time.
We have found that this is quite usefull in endurance racing.
The next thing that would be nice is to see the selected gear( ZF HP 8)
Any information would be aprreciated
Thank you very much.
If you can't figure out the CAN messages with fuel flow / injector pulse width, then I have connected an injector signal to a digital input on a MoTeC dash, and used that to calculate a fuel used value that can be used for the fuel calculations. Once calibrated it works very well for endurance racing.
I would think the Gear Selection could be determined using the OBD2 messages. If you don't know about these, this is a great place to learn:

If you will email me (ferg@veracitydata.com), I will send you some notes on how the MoTeC ODBII_Tx and OBDII Service 01 Reply Comp can be used to request specific OBD-II PIDs.

Thanks you very much, will try it out and let you know.
