I have a very basic question about wiring sizes.
If you calculate for instance that the wire you need is for 8 amps i.e. AWG 16, apart from weight, is there anything stopping you using AWG 12 or 10 to er on the safe side i.e. will it add extra resistance to current flow or create any other problems? I don't know why it would but you guys know best.
I do a lot of vintage car restoration where weight is no issue as everything is heavy! and an extra half kilo of weight in wiring would mean nothing to the overall performance of the vehicles but avoiding engine bay fires would be beneficial....
Any advice or pointers to extra information would be great.
hello, there is absolutely no issue with doing this at all, i see only the bonus of having the bulky look that this will give the loom which makes it look more to the period,
regards Ross
Hi Ross,
I will proceed on the side of caution then and bulk up those wires.
Appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us all.
Cheers
