Hello everyone,

I'm a little confused on the best way to run Can bus wiring. I understand you need a “trunk” with a 120ohm resistor at each end. I have a Ecumaster ECU with a built in resistor and a turbolamik tcu with a built in resistor. So these would be the START and END of my “trunk”. The ecu’s are mounted right next to each other in the passenger foot well. I have a third device which is a bti screen (mounted in the dash) with a removable built in resistor. In the future I will be adding a CAN switch pad and a CAN steering wheel. Even though the ecu’s are right next to each other, should I start my twisted pair at the ecumaster and run the “trunk”near each device, then loop it back around and connect to the turbolamik TCU? Or can I just make a 10 inch “trunk” from one ecu to the other, and then run a twisted pair from each device to where the ecu’s are mounted?

I would make the big loop. OR figure out how to disable the terminating resistors in one of the devices (cut a trace, remove the resistor from the board, etc).

Ecumaster Black's terminating resistor can be disabled in software, same with Pro/ADU/PMU on CAN 2 and Can 1 doesn't have one.

Make the Turbolamik on end of the bus and the dash side the other end, terminating resistor near the dash.

Appreciate the Help! I picked up a DTM connector with built in 120ohm resistor as the end of the trunk. I’ll put it near the steering wheel and use the turbolamik as the start.
