What is the best way of determining what wire gauge I have? I do not need recommendations on what gauge I should use for X applications. I am having the hardest time looking at the existing wire and knowing that it is, say 14 gauge.
Do you have some known 14 awg wire to compare to? That's what I do as a sanity check.
these are real handy and have mm2 on one side and AWG on the other.
A set of trusted wire strippers for each insulation material you're trying to check are your best friends.
