CDI Ignition - Brief Intro:

Hi, so i just saw this video on the Ryan wiring tutorial, and was wondering if you will need to change your spark plugs to withstand the 40000v from a CDI module, would the 20k increase damage the standard sparks?

thanks!

G'day Martin.

It's not something I've personally encountered, as the vehicles I've been involved with at a high enough level of modification to require CDI ignition would have their plugs changed on a schedule as a matter of course, not when they began failing.

I'd say that you wouldn't see any immediate damage from running the same plugs when switching to a CDI setup, but their lifetime will most likely be reduced.
