I'm making great progress with the wiring of my 65 F100 now.

The current truck has no Solenoid to activate power. At the moment, power comes out of the battery, then to the starter and up to the fuse box, a key activates the switch circuit and then the starter button fires the starter.

The obvious benifit of putting a Solenoid straight out of the battery is that I can use a Key inside the cab to activate the main electric circuit, which makes alot of sense instead of just restricting the switch.

Anything I'm missing, anything I'm not considering?

I'm not quite sure why you want to do this, 'cept maybe an anti-theft device with a hidden switch?

That said, that is a 65A continuous (750A short period) current rated solinoid, and I would expect that to be too light for what you're looking at, depending on what you expect to put through it - remember, the alternator may also be charging the battery through it.

A compromise may be to just have the ECU controlled components powered through the solinoid.

Yea, I've been thinking this through and I think it's overkill.

This is a Carbed engine so it's even simpler really.

I'll stick an ignition key infront of the switch circuit which should be enough for basic security at shows etc.
