Hi all,
Just a short newbie non electrical experience guy question, is it possible for me to use PTFE (UL1332) wire for constructing my engine harness? The most readily available locally are pvc and PTFE type of wire. For txl or tefzel so far I can’t source it locally or mybe I didn’t know the correct term (UL number or etc) for normally use wire.
Not an expert on this for automotive however after a quick google read these two articles. Basically tefzel is tougher/stronger while PTFE is lower friction and more flexible.

So I guess it is useable right? Since our main concern is normally on the engine temperature.
If you keep clear of hot temperatures then I am sure there is no real problem. Correct wire sizing will avoid temperatures inside the insulation climbing.
Just be aware that most modern plug solutions have tolerances for the outside jacket of the wiring to be able to fit in the connector body so you might be a little more limited on choice.
My 73 toyota corolla came out of the factory with it.
Thank for the information mate
