Hi,
I'm in the process of rebuilding a 7 bolt 4g63. It was with an engine builder and was pulled away after 2 years of waiting. The machine work was done by an unknown machinist.
Before joining HPA I purchased all the tools required, although it seems they're aren't as accurate as the tools listed in the course videos. Is 0.01mm tools accurate enough to continue the build for both micrometers and the dial bore indicator?
I was hoping to share my recordings soon to verify what bearings I can use.
So far my piston bores TOP, CENTRE & BOTTOM range between 0.02mm, which is concerning if I do need to measure in the hundredths.
My rod journal's between 0.01mm
And main journals between 0.03mm
If I must repurchase micrometers I'll make sure they have anvil attachments this time for better measurements.
Thanks in advance for any help.
0.01 mm is good enough - in order to build a reliable engine you don't need any others providing that it's real 0.01 mm (has to be checked with special calibre)...
Thank you,
I noticed I am having a lot of inconsistencies with these cheaper tools. I borrowed micrometers from a friend and noticed much better tolerance.
