What options are out there for upgrading the factory distributor sensors?
Do you currently run or tune any cars with an aftermarket cam or crank and if so, what feedback do you have?
Thanks.
Hello from Perth, Western Australia. I am currently building a EG Civic with a B16 Turbo and Haltech Nexus, and are looking to upgrade to a more modern trigger system for the crank and cam as I am redoing all of the wiring. I have done a quick search and have came across the following systems;
• 50 Ignite - Crank and Cam Trigger Kit (Requires; OBD2 Type R oil pump, OBD2 lower timing cover and gasket, oil pump o-ring and oil strainer gasket)
• T1 Race Development - Cam Trigger Kit (Removes factory power steering)
I have seen trigger wheels mounted to ATI Racing - Super Damper® Harmonic Dampers, however I haven't seen any kits for sale online.
In my opinion the T1 cam trigger is not an improvement over the stock trigger. I suspect they got common years ago when most honda guys in USA were using the AEM series 2 which were flaky with VR sensors, so the options were to change to the AEM "EPM" (unreliable) or the T1 kit.
Doesnt the OBD2 B16 have a factory crank trigger system?
i did build my own and need the gsr or type r oil pump that has the sensor base. u can take a look on my instagram page
