Hey everyone, I used the building course to rebuild my 2jzgte. I bumped the compression from 8.5:1 to 9.6:1. I filed the top piston ring gap to 0.017" and the second to 0.019". I plan on running e85 most the time.

I'm starting to second guess myself that I should have gone a little looser on end gaps. What's everyone running on their 2jz rebuilds.

Thanks

What brand did you use? Different manufacturers have different recommendations...

Wiseco pistons. For turbo applications they recommend 0.005" x bore 3.405512" (86.5mm) = 0.017" for top and 0.0055" for bottom so 0.019" for second ring.

You should be just fine with these gaps provided that the fuel in use is E85 when the engine is loaded the most. I used even smaller gaps with 3.4 Bar of boost on E85 and it worked without a single issue for 3000+ miles on dragstrip...
