Hello, I am currently building a 3UZ single turbo engine with forged cp pistons and forged rods for competition drifting.
It will be managed by link xtreme ecu.
In your experience what is a safe hp figure as the cylinder sleeves are stock and bored 0.5.
The goal is not a big dyno number but a reliable engine to last through the season.
Thank you in advance.
I'm making 2uz now and my power goal is 1200-1300 hp. Maybe even 1500...
It should be able to easily make 100-150 hp per cylinder
I haven't had the misfortune of breaking one so I don't have personal experience on the failure point sadly. What you need to be mindful of is that the 3UZ has thinner sleeves than the 1UZ due to the larger bore diameter. Sleeve failure is not uncommon on turbocharged 3UZ's because of the thinner sleeves. It's always very hard to gauge the exact reason for engine failures on the internet and no doubt some of the reported failures are the result of tuning rather than outright strength alone but it would seem that once you head north of about 600 hp you're starting to face the potential for failures. Probably not what you wanted to hear sorry.
