Talk about engine building here. New products, tricky questions or showcase your work - If it's engine building related it's welcome here.
I am debating what to do with my n54 ported head. And will high or low lift make a big difference? Here is a picture of the differences
i am building the engine fully forged, with all the parts u can think of. For now i am on big twins but i think i go in future with single turbo
PS IN THE PICTURE ARE THE SPECS OF OEM CAMS+SCHRICK CAMS
I can't advise, but can make a couple of points to consider.
Most aftermarket forged pistons have relatively deep valve pockets but V2P may still be an issue, and there may be issues with guides needing trimming, head clearancing, or other work required, with higher lift increasing the odds of this. The camshaft overlap may be a concern with a turbo' engine, especially with a higher exhaust manifold pressure than inlet.
I get what you are saying, but schricks says the v2p space is already good for stock engine, so that would be no issue. Also the clearing for the cam ledge would be no problem because my engine builder will sort that out.
i asked here in terms of horsepower and what is better, and also drivability, because stock cams arw really conservative.
