Hey everyone,
I have an evo 4, with evo 8 block, tomei 2.3 stroker, evo 8 head with tomei poncams 270 and hks turbo. Fairly potent setup running on a Hlatech elite 1500.
I am wanting to get a second head to send off so it can be set up with more aggressive cams in mind. Evo heads are getting increasingly rare to find, and i keep reading about the hyundai G4JS head that is apparently a nearly identical clone to the evo 8 head, with exception to the valve cover, turbo oil feed line, and the thermostat housing bolt pattern. I have found good inforfmation on bolting it on a 4g64 block, with details such as what cam belt to use etc.
Has anyone here done this swap? The g4js head is still available new from hyundai, so this would be amazing to buy, and have it immediately shipped off to the machinist. but i would like to have first hand account of the compatibility to the evo block, and if there are any hidden issues. I know that exhaust and intake manifolds bolt right on, so that I am not worry about.

Although I didn't do the swap myself there is a guy who did it.
Yeah I came across that as well. its apparently used fairly often, just want to make sure that there is not some super special timing belt or cam gears I need to make this work.
