Hi from France,
I'm building a high specs road going Evo 8 (Rally car with air conditioning and street car interior), and I'm finalising my engine set up, I'm in doubt with manifold choice, do you think it's possible to run a Jenvey ITB in this configuration (https://store.jenvey.co.uk/throttle-body-kits/mitsubishi-engine/mitsubishi-turbo-itb-kit-ckmm01-sfs-kit) ? In terms of cold start and idle in traffic ? I have never build a turbo engine with ITB (but many N/A rallycar engines) but ITB on turbo looks tricky to manage on a road application.
Engine info : 2.0 Long rod full build with SME full ported head 268 deg cams, big AMS intercooler 3 inch intake and exhaust, stock frame upgraded evo 9 turbo, equal length tubular exhaust manifold. Power target is 480/500 hp with 1.6 bar and a lot of power band not a drag violent engine, no anti lag.
Ecu Link G4+ PNP with can lambda.
I've read and watch all the HP academy info on ITB's
Thanks for your lights ;)
Personally I wouldn't go for something i didn't try before. If you have a budget buy it, but save it for later when you have time to play with it and learn pros and cons... I know to many cases when reces were completely spoiled by new technologies and hardware that were not tested good enough but instaled at last minute hoping to get some help in the race from it. Usually it goes opposite - lots of disappointing... Going into the race you have to be one hundred percent sure your car is absolutely ready and you know it inside out.
IIRC, the jenvey TBs are rated for 5bar, so they wouldn't be a problem.
However, I would agree with Shota that you may be borrowing hassles with the setup - more from packaging than how well they will work, as I would expect a small improvement in resonse and possible torque/power as the runners would be expected to have a larger cross-section than the OEM manifold.
It sounds like you're competent and, if you're happy with the additional expense, why not experiment with it?
