hi good day hpacademy I am enquiring about the piston stop. Is the piston stop standard length ? How do you know that you are not stopping the piston before TDC if the length is adjustable .
Hi Ansel, no the piston stop is not a standard length. It needs to be adjustable in order to suit a variety of different engine and piston combinations. The key point though is that we aren't stopping the piston at TDC. Instead we're stopping the piston just below TDC. If you're trying to find true TDC then we stop the piston just below TDC and wind the engine over until we contact the piston stop on both sides of TDC. True TDC is exactly in the middle of the two points we've just found.
