hey all,

i was wondering if any one had an recommendations for a break-in oil to use in my freshly built Subaru EJ207 engine ?

thanks

Justin

Hi Justin, apparently Joe Gibbs is pretty good stuff.

Penrite have their own version as well. Some say any full mineral oil can do the task.

I am also rebuilding an engine currently and would be interested if anyone has more insight.

Interested too!

I personally just use a good quality mineral based oil. I have used dedicated break in oils in the past but often found that they were quite thin and didn't offer the sort of protection that I wanted from an engine that still produced relatively high power even during the break in process. That being said, I have heard good things about the driven racing oil though and the high zinc content is probably an advantage if you're running a flat tappet pushrod engine.
