Hello,
My names is Antonio, I am from El Salvador, Central America.
I need help with the Tomei piston ring clearance gap. I am using Tomei stroker kit 2.2 for my Evo7 and piston material A4032 alloy,Please see below for installation manual specs:
Top Ring (0.18mm-0.35mm)
Second Ring (0.18mm-0.35mm)
Oil Ring (0.15mm-0.70mm)
Please let me know if you can suggest a measurement for the ring gap.
Thank you!
It depends on power lelel you plan to achieve... The more power you plan to get the wider ring gap should be. Going above 500+ hp at the crank I would suggest using the bigest number for top and second ring with mid number for oil ring.
Hi Shota,
Thank you so much you reply! This helps a lot.
I have one more question, for the block honing process I used block+Tomei head gasket+torque plate+ARP bolt CA625,to calibrate the ring gap would I need to put everything back together? Because when I removed the torque plate to machine shop resurface the block and I checked the cylinder bore there was some distortion in the cylinder bore measurement.
Please let me know what you think. Thank you again for your help,
Antonio
I always use torque plate for working on the cylinders but it is not necessary for measuring pistons ring gap as the difference is so small it wouldn't effect the ring gap at all.
Thanksssssss.
