Talk about engine building here. New products, tricky questions or showcase your work - If it's engine building related it's welcome here.
Hi all,
I’m in the very early stages of building out my ‘07 Audi S5 4.2l V8 (B8).
One of the big issues with the engine (Engine code= CAU) is the amount of carbon build up due to direct injection.
A thought I had to resolving this is to add port injection, as getting injector-less cylinder heads would be an sizeable investment.
Obviously this would mean 16 injectors. I don’t know of any standalone ECUs that handle this kind of thing, I may just be missing something though. I’d like full control over all injectors/cylinders, but unsure if it’d be required/worth it.
If anyone has any thoughts or insights it’d be great to hear from you.

A MoTeC M181/2 (choice based on DI Injector type) will allow for full sequential control of 8 DI injectors, 8 Port injectors and 8 ignition coils. There is not a specific Firmware for that vehicle, so integration into the rest of the vehicle (Dash, ABS, etc) would need to be investigated.
That's a not uncommon requirement - you'd be best advised to talk to the people who will be doing the tuning to see what their options are.
Depending on your specific needs, have you considered moving to only port injection, as that will open your options further?
