I was wondering if you guys could help me out or point me in the right direction. As I’m sure you know there’s quite a few ls or coyote conversions in colarados, rangers, HiLuxs etc.I’ve always had this vision of doing the amg Mercedes never did with the X-Class, full running gear out of a c63 (haven’t decided on w204 or w205).However I can’t find anyone that has done this conversion! Surely it’s possible as the 350d even has the 7g transmission.I’ve asked a few shops that do ls and coyote for their respective cars but they aren’t interested in what I want to do.What hurdles is there?? Is it too costly? Not enough room? I’m not sure but I’d really like to do it as I own a 350d and it needs a little more.

You need to confirm if it's a Mercedes or Nissan electronics package in the chassis and if anyone has decoded or offers tuning solutions.

Shops probably aren't interested as there may not be an existing plug in tuning solution to marry factory engine ecu to body control and dash system or even for an aftermarket ecu to have appropriate CAN comms to the body control system.

Engine/body swaps with modern systems either need to be a passion project for a workshop team, hobbyist or a big pay to play job for someone with the right knowledge and equipment to crack factory modules or sniff and replicate all the CAN comms.

Anything is possible, the cost or time penalty may not be practical for you. Unfortunately it's not like throwing a moo mang in an old hilux with a couple of wires to the dash these days. You might want to find they guys that did coyote into ranger and talk to them on realities of tying stiff together.

Thanks for that mate.

ill have to look into it further, I know as I mentioned it uses the 7g tronic Mercedes transmission and the 3.0l engine is the same as the sprinter and gle 350d. Big chance it uses the same electronics package.

As you said nothing is easy with modern cars, not like chucking a 308 in something unfortunately.

However there was a bloke in South Africa who put the 6.2l m156 in a new hilux, I’ll have to find more info about it.

in the meantime I’ll hit up those guys at formula tech. Cheers.
