Hello everyone. I'm having problem to fire up a 2JZ. I've never worked on a 2JZ so, I have some doubts. The engine doesn't start, I checked and the crank sensor is not pulling any signal, it's using a AEM Infinity 506 with HALL sensor in the crank. I checked the connections and all connections are okay, all wires go to right pins on the ECU. The crank trigger wheel has 12 tooth and there is no Cam sensor, it's deleted. Another mechanic put it together and the owner brought the car to me for I finish the electrical connection and get the motor running. So, is it possible the ECU recognize the synchronism without the Cam sensor? I didn't find how to program it on the ECU, all the options ask for Cam sensor. Anybody cam help me? Thanks

ECU will need to be configured in Infinity Tuner to match the engine. Probably need to create a session where you crank, and save that session (.itssn file), then upload that (might need to put it in a zip file). That will contain the configuration we can look at.

The Setup Wizard is where you define the type of Cam and Crank sensors. I'm not sure there are any setups that don't require a cam sensor. So you may have to fit something either on a cam, or using a distributor pickup.

Have you tried calling AEM -- I bet they could help you, or point you to what is needed.

BTW - I found the Infinity ECU very inflexible with any of the OEM patterns. You have to use exactly the OEM-type sensors (so you couldn't substitute a VR sensor for a Hall sensor on the crank). Any noise and the system would lose sync easily, but you can set it up to recover instead of dying -- but that's not the default. The default is "stop".

So I notice the 2JZ setting expects a VR sensor for both crank and cam (and it's VVT, so you'll definitely need a cam sensor if you're going to control the cam).
