Hi all,
I have a 2002 Lexus IS300 with a 2JZ-GTE VVTi from a 2000 Toyota Aristo. The engine is largely stock. I'm looking at starting to build the engine with the purpose of making additional power but keeping the car fun to drive on the street.
I know that parts selected to an engine must all work together, intake, cams turbo. You cannot just throw parts at it and expect it to perform well. My question is what is a good selection of parts that work well together, what is the recipe? This must have been done often enough that people must have a pretty good idea of what parts work well together.
Failing a recipe can anyone recommend a North American tuner/builder that knows what they are doing that could recommend parts well suited to the task?
Don we'll need to know your power goal and the fuel you'll be using as those are huge factors and will narrow things down a lot. For example, you might not need cams at all depending on your answers. Please let us know so we can help.
Being around lots of JZ engines I would advise to get upgraded stock location turbo - something like Mamba gtx3071 or gtx3076, change fuel pump and fuel injector, spark plugs, intercooler and enjoy street 500-600 hp car. That's pretty much it unless you want to go to really high numbers.
