Ive done lots of research recently and I have decided to add Tuning to the portfolio.
Ive used generic Ecu mapping devices before like RS Tuner etc.
However if you were to start out now , what would you recommend as a cost effective tool that can have access to the most protocols/cars from the start.
I have access to Diagnostic scanners, Laptop and battery chargers , so dont have to worry about these as a cost outlay. Its purely for the remapping tool.
For my part of the world UK, it seems to be mostly Kess V3 , Autotuner and Flex is the main contenders that have the best access to dealer networks.
Any advice is appreciated.
No specific recommendation - I don't know enough - but I'd start with some lists, such as...
The manufacturers and their model vehicles I was interested in working on - few things more annoying than buying something you 'think' will work and after using it a few weeks you find it's limitations. A second section of it may be for the vehicles you 'may' be interested in in future. Either way, checking how often they update their s/ware for new tech' may give some idea on how much they invest in keeping the s/ware current.
Which suppliers have an annual licence, how much is it, and which have additional fees for adding vehicles.
Their dealer and/or support network - not much use having a product that isn't 100% reliable, or that has a poor service back-up, as a broken tool is just costing you money.
You may already have thought of those, but the more you think about what you DO need, what you would like but can live without, and what you don't care about having, the better the chances you'll find something that suits YOUR needs.
