Hi,

I'm having some trouble on a friends turbo car.

He has an AEM Wideband but it always reads around 13,8 - 14,1, even when outside of the exhaust. I checked the wiring (basically 3 wires) and all was good.

When I disconnected the sensor I think it went a bit higher than that...

Is this a common issue?

He used a regular Bosch LSU 4.9, not supplied by AEM - could this be the issue? The AEM one is very expensive to get in Europe so he went with this alternative.

My question is, we will try a new 4.9 sensor - can I go general or should I try AEM?

First of all I would recommend to check AEM manual for that specific device. Old AEM WBO2 gauge used Bosch 4.3 sensor.

Did you calibrate the wideband before installing it into the exhaust.

The AEM sensor says Bosch 4.9 on it.

I believe AEM sensors don't require open air calibration...

I guess he is trying to data log using rs232 to serial port? I had problems with my aem and data logging but have sorted it now. Red wire to power. Blue wire to number 5 on female and black earth wire to ground in db9 also on the vehicle earth. I made it remotely so i can move it from vehicle to vehicle using romraider. Also use the aem obd2 to data log on hp tuners.

We usually reply within 12hrs (often sooner)
