G'day guys, I'd just like to double check a few things before I attempt to tune my car from scratch. I'll be starting afresh with my whole configuration. The physical wiring and hardware will be identical except for larger injectors and a new pump. I'm tuning a 2005 WRX with a Haltech PS2000 that was previously configured and tuned but due to some 'privacy issues' I'll have to start the whole thing over.

So I've followed the 10 step process so far and I'm up to the base table configuration. With the Haltech PS2000, you can setup an air temperature correction table and a coolant temperature correction table for both fuel and ignition. My question is should I leave those functions off whilst I tune the base fuel and ignition tables? I'll be tuning VE, so shouldn't the ECU calculate that for me and change the required amount of fuel based on its calculations for air mass? I'm thinking those functions are there if you're tuning Injection Time based maps or if for some reason your engine misbehaves at a certain temperature.

And I thought, as long as I keep an eye on air and coolant temperatures to stay in regular operating conditions, then I won't have to worry if the ECU is correcting for something while I'm tuning and inadvertently tune out the correction. Only to find out later when my numbers in the fuel and ignition tables are wrong because of that.

Any input will be appreciated. Cheers!

If you're tuning in the VE mode then you can choose whether to automatically account for IAT within the fuel equation, or retain a compensation table in the background. If you choose to automatically compensate for IAT (which I'd suggest), then you should make sure that the IAT comp table is zeroed out to start with. You can still use that table to tweak the overall adjustment if the auto compensation doesn't work perfectly (I normally find it is a little over bearing if you just use the auto comp). The warmup enrichment should be set to zero in the normal operating temperature areas of the table and then you can adjust the cold start as required.
