I am currently tuning my 06 sti via ecu flash. When I try to do a wot pull from low rpm I hit boost cut and get a P0244 code. On my data log boost is pretty spot on from what I can tell. Is there something I'm missing? Anyone ever come across this problem? attached is a data log.
Paul,
The most common cause of this would be hitting the boost limit set in the tune.
It generally needs increased if you're running more than stock boost level.
Have you adjusted the limit to be high enough that you aren't hitting it during normal operation?
Just be careful not to set the boost limit too high. That's only a 2.5 bar sensor, so if you set boost cut past about 21.7 psi you might as well set it to 100 psi. The ECU won't apply a boost cut if the boost reading never reaches the limit. Setting cut at 21.5 is about as far as I'd suggest going without switching to a MAP sensor that has more range.
My target boost is actually set to 22psi. Do you think that could be the issue?
Paul,
Yes if you target a boost level the ECU can never see it has achieved, because it's beyond sensor capability, the ECU is going to think you're under boost target regardless of actual boost level. That will cause the PI system to add wastegate duty up to the limits you've tuned in the closed loop boost control tables. This will generally increase boost beyond where you want it.
And then if your boost cut is above that, it won't ever be achieved so you've lost engine protection.
The stock GR STI sensor is a 3 bar in case that meets your current and future needs. Otherwise COBB has a plug and play 4 bar option, and I use some other options for higher boost levels.
