Hello,
Might not be the best place for this kind of informationbut thought I'd give it a shot! I have already contacted Dyno Dynamics directly but have yet to have a response.
I've tasked myself with investigating upgrading the old Windows XP machine running Dyno Dynamics 7.3 onto Windows 10.
Has anyone had an experence reinstalling the application and restoring the data? Any issues with reattaching the hardware over USB?
Cheers
Alex
It probably doesn't affect you, as the software is probaly out of date for WIN10, but if you do need to install from floppy discs (god forbid) WIN10 dropped support for the FAT12 file format, used by floppies, shortly after it was released - a USB floppy drive will be recognised, it will even recognise if the disc is locked, but it won't detect any media.
If this is the case, you may get by by copying the files onto a USB stick and working from there - but that's a BIG 'maybe'.
Another issue may be if your machine still uses a serial (or parallel) to connect between the dyno' and the PC. You can buy adaptors which 'should' work without issue, but something to bear in mind.
Have you checked if there is downloadable software for WIN10, or other 64 bit Windows OS as that will probably work? What about any on-line forums?
Thanks for the response.
So luckily I've been able to get the XP machine to power up again and there's a package on the machine that I've been able to install and launch on another Windows 10 machine.
I haven't had my hands on the Dyno itself yet so I am yet to discover if it's just serial or if it has parallel aswell.
If anyone has had any first hand experience with recovery it would be great to hear your experience.
I have dyno dynamics and if there is one thing I learn from it. If I spent money on an upgrade I'm going with mustang dyno. I used to work for a company that had one. tech support was like calling my friend with a question. We had problems with the PC they overnighted us a back up. I called, emailed, text dyno dynamics and I can say. is been 3 months. no answer.
