Looks like a fun project - a bit surprised at the use of a slide throttle, but it sure looks cool!
This motor is original BMW, so is the placement of injectors and slide throttle.
The M12 was produced and used from the late 1960's in Fomula 2. As BMW M12/7, the engine design since the 1960s became one of the most successful in racing. Starting with the European Touring Car Championship, it was also used in Formula 2, expanded to two-litre and fitted with four-valve heads, producing over 300 hp (224 kW).
Later on, the M2 was used in Formula 1. BMW engineers estimated the engine produced around 1,400 hp at maximum boost, however the BMW engine dynamometer could not go beyond 1,280 bhp.
Yup, I figured it was an older engine, from the F2 spec', with the slides being period.
