I'm new into the tuning world and wondering what cable I should be using for the connection between my ECU to my laptop. I've heard that OBD2 to USB isn't a good way to go? Just wondering if there are any brands or connection types that I should be using to hook up to my car :)

It depends on the ECU, most Standalone ECU will use either Ethernet, USB or even RS232 Serial in some older ones. OEM ECU that can be re-flashed generally use USB-OBD2 adapters such as HP Tuners, EFI Live, etc.
