Hello. I'm not one to post a lot of questions as I try to do my research in the multiple forums that I participate in, but I cannot locate this same question from a previous or current student of EFI !
Brief background: '76 Porsche 912E with 3.0L flat 6 from an '82 911SC with factory Bosch CSI fuel injection. Does run well. Going with single throttle body, DBW, COP, sequential fuel and spark (with items mostly from Adapt Motorsport). Have a ECUMaster Black. ECUMaster's instructions clearly indicate the ability for the ecm to manage a single wideband 4.2 or 4.9. My flat 6 does not merge exhaust until the "sausage" muffler that's parallel with the rear bumper. I have stainless steel headers with collectors on each side of the engine.
How can I get the Black ecm to work with two Wideband 4.9 sensors? Or, do I just forget installing my 2nd sensor and go with one sensor for only one bank of cylinders? Thanks very much! Patrick
If you want closed loop control of each bank, you will need to select an ECU capable of that. Otherwise, just put it in one bank, and make the same adjustment to both banks. I've certainly worked with some 911 engines that a bad O2 sensor on one bank, and I temporarily switched to using only one. It wasn't much of a problem.
But if you're going for high-end like you describe (DBW, COP, Sequential Fuel/Spark), then you should probably select an ECU that can work with per-bank trims.
It looks like the new EMU Pro has dual wideband controllers built in (and the connectors are a lot nicer to work with). I have not checked the software to see if it support per-bank trims.
Thanks David. I'll have to study up some more! I guess I could utilize two weld-in bungs (one with a plug) and swap the sensor just to see how the readings compare. I am still formulating my plan..., but I do have most of the $$ hardware and such on hand already, lol. Appreciate the reply. Enjoying HP Academy and this forum. Patrick
