So to start I would like to see a boost of about 20psi. Stock the peak value is 15psi. I have changed the exhaust turbo back single exit over the dual exit. I have changed to a bigger intercooler, did the egr and tgv deletes, and grimmspeed boost controller

My question is this. When tuning boost if I raise the boost pressure should I retard the ignition timing a little bit? Or should I advance it? A lot of me is thinking I should retard it just a little bit. but I don't want to be wrong.

Any info would be greatly appriciated.

Side note I installed all of that and started with a stage 2 off the shelf map from cobb. The only thing I ended up changing was the requested boost of 1.43bar at WOT and the wastegate duty cycle of max 55% at WOT. After changing just those 2 parameters. I went on a test drive and sent two rods through the block. I saw a boost pressure at about 3500rpm of 22+ psi. I also screwed up and didnt datalog while this happened.

Your ignition timing maps should be already prepared for higher load ( boost) from factory. The only thing you need to make sure of (as far as ignition timing goes) is that increased boost level is not causing knock ( detonation). If that is the case you should retard the ignition timing untill knock is eliminated. If there is no knock detected with increased boost level then you might also want to try increasing ignition timing just to see where the knock threshold is. It has to be done very carefully, 1 or 2 degrees of advancing at the time maximum to avoid going over knock threshold. If octane number of the fuel you are using will allow to to increase ignition timing without knock ( advancing) - it will be yielding in additional torque, power, lower fuel consumption and lower egt ( providing you will not go past MBT point) but the chances are that you are going to be very close to the knock limit even with stock ignition timing settings. But anyway it is always worth trying...

Sir thank you very much for the feedback, I really do appreciate it.
