hey guys iv got a guy that wants his lt-10 tuned it’s a rb25/30, supposably it’s already been tuned but I definitely want to go though the basics like base timing and fuel settings to make sure all that is correct. I have just ordered the USB adapter kit is there anything else needed or any tips for newbe on the microtechs (I have tune haltechs and factory ecu’s before).
Really unhappy with the lack of help on these fourms really not sure why I’m still paying for this.
Hi Will,
Apologies for the slow reply. Unfortunately I've been out of the country for the last 18 days which has made it hard for me to keep up with forum questions. Among our members I'd also say the microtech isn't a common choice so there are not too many others ready to chip in. However, on to your question. All you'll need to actually tune the LT10 is the serial adaptor and the laptop software. The microtech is a little unusual to tune in comparison to the likes of a Haltech in that by default it uses 2D maps for fuel and ignition with corrections that are applied depending on the operating conditions. The problem is that the resolution is limited which affects the tuner's ability to achieve fine control.
What you will need to do is going to depend how the ECU has been tuned already. If you're starting from scratch I'd use matrix mode which gives you more better control (matrix mode is microtech's attempt at 3D mapping), however if you're making some small touchups to an existing tune then I'd probably suggest leaving it how it's configured.
Thanks for the reply, how do I know if it’s tuned in matrix mode or not?
According the Microtech LT manual found here:
http://microtechefi.com/download/ltmanual.pdf
On pg22, it discusses Screen 31, on that screen Maps = Normal or Maps = Matrix will determine which mode is being used.
