Hi,

I've recently bought a Haltech E11 v2 ECU and harness that came off a Noble M12 2.5L Ford Duratec v6 twin turbo that I'm looking to put onto Jaguar AJ30 3.0L V6. I thought since they are effectively the same engine, it would be a good place to start however, I have a few questions if you could help:

1. I've pulled down both the Milspec and Autopsec wiring diagrams from the Haltech website, and when I've tried to pin out the harness, they are nothing like the diagram. Is it possible that the ECU has been reconfigured to have the inputs and outputs on different pins?

2. I think most of the sensors are the same however, the Noble was running a conventional coil, HT lead and plug set-up where the Jaguar is COP. Is it straight forward to change from the single coil set up to ignition module and COP and make the necessary changes in the ECU?

3. Would anyone have or know where I could get a basic map to suit this application or do you think the current map would be enough to get the engine going without damaging it? I did ask Haltech but they said couldn't help with anything as the ECU is about 15 years old and now they don't/won't support it or provide maps or anything.

Thanks, Tim.

Hey Tim, unfortunately the E11 is pretty old now and it's been a long time since I've dealt with one. The ECU is completely flexible in terms of input and output assignment so it would be a case of checking the pin outs and see what is assigned where. Before startup you can check that you're getting reliable readings from all the sensors and that everything makes sense. If you back probe the harness then you can be certain where everything has been wired. This can be a pain but if you have no documentation for the engine harness then this is your only option.

You can run 6 individual coils off the E11. They will either need to be smart coils with a built in ignitor module or you'll need an external 6 channel igniter. I can't talk you through the setup from memory but it's detailed well in the manual. Here's a link to a copy of the manual and you can find information on the coil wiring on page 18 and 19 - https://www.mikrocontroller.net/attachment/109401/e8_manual_5_July_2008.pdf Page 35 details the software setup from distributor to direct spark.

I'd be surprised if you'll find a base map that's worthy of using and would recommend building your own map. This way you can be sure that you haven't missed anything.

Thanks Andre, that’s helpful.

Looks like I’ve got a bit of work to do to work things out, might be better starting from scratch and building a new loom and reprogramming the ECU then.

Thanks.
