I know an M130 will work with the GPRP package. $4k. I’ve been also looking at the EMUpro8 as a viable alternative. On paper it looks equivalent but does anybody have experience with these two to give opinions on software, tuning, etc?
This will be on a prototype racecar.
I've used an M130 running a custom firmware package I developed, on Norma M20F with the Sadev hydraulic paddle shift. I adapted the existing DTA S40 harness for the K20 that was in the car. I installed an Aim SW4 steering wheel, and was able to use the knobs to control the settings in ECU.
David, I'm an old customer of yours from my Formula Enterprise days in SCCA. Perhaps we can discuss more on your firmware package as I'm running a Ligier JS53 and is also a Group CN car like the Norma.
Dan, I recognize you from Apexspeed, and I remember working with you when you were starting with the FE.
Here is a copy of the package. It's GPRP modified to add blipper support as well as duty cycle for the shift actuation to help make "First to Neutral without overshooting to reverse" work better, since the Sadev doesn't have much of a stop for neutral (a lot like half-shifts for motorcycle gearboxes. It also has my Dynapack in/out support making tuning easier for me.
Thanks David i will check it out! I think I’m going with ECUmaster (Pro8). It comes with built in paddle shifting module but not sure yet if it’s applicable to my needs so will need to confirm.
I decided to try going with EMU Pro8. I figure 2 of the H bridges will control the VVT and if I convert TB to DBW I’ll be using an Aux output and then my real question is on the shift solenoids from the hydraulic actuator. I will no longer be needing the blip hydraulic solenoid if I use DBW but Can the shift+ and Shift - solenoids be driven by AUX outputs? Would an H bridge suffice or can I use a PMU16 output for this?
I used half-bridge outputs to drive the Sadev hydraulic solenoids, but I would suspect that aux outputs would probably work.
Good luck with your project -- it's a daunting undertaking.
Thanks David. I’m going to download the motec software and check out your file you sent and see what I can glean from that. 👍
