Hi everyone
I'm trying to solve a high rpm missfire with a 4g63 I'm boosting 28 psi boosting on modified block with compression ratio 11.5:1 all ignition components are new (M&W pro 12) including coil i just replaced my ikh24 spark plug that had 0.024 gap with a brand new set and the problem persistent I'm using a haltech 2500 and VP C16 could anyone give me a good spark plug heat range and gap since I running very high compression with a big turbo precision 6766
If you want to try a colder plug, I think the ikh27 is the next step. Sounds like the gap could go as low as 0.018 according to this video:
Might help with a bit more info' on the nature of the mis-fire - is it random or every time, if pulling from the mid-range does it come in a specific rpm or does it vary, is it present in the same way with a little less throttle/boost, etc?
I assume you've checked the fuelling side is up to the mark, with some reserve, and holding fuel pressure?
A little outside my play-pen, but exactly what coil are you using, and what dwell/duty cycle is it working on - it may simply be unable to supply the voltage and current for reliable ignition at higher rpm - oh, and what do you call "high rpm?", some may think 8k is "high", but others may be thinking of significantly over 10k?
Is there any specific reason you think you need colder spark plugs? There are specialist 'plugs that have flush or recessed centre electrodes, and even "rim fire" types that are VERY cold and fire from the cntre electrode directly to the shell/body.
Oh, this may be something else to check on - coils are polarity sensitive, if you have the low tension wiring reversed, you can lose anything up to 40% efficiency as it will fire from the colder ground to the hot centre, when the reverse is the correct operation.
