Hello.

I’m pretty inexperienced at this.

My problem:

My plex knock motion is detecting knock on high rpm at 1 bar. Fuel: 98 pump(same as 93 in us) with water/meth injection. It’s knocking on 2-3 degrees of timing.

Some background information:

I bought a sleeved and built b18c engine which was stroked and bored out to 84mmx89mm. Head ported with all Ferrea competition plus valve train. I combined this with skunk2 pro 1 cams.

Turbo I used was gtx 3076 gen2, mounted on a full-race ramhorn manifold.

I had issues on vtec, mainly backpressure I assume. The car made 504hp at 7200rpm, but at 8200rpm it just hits a wall. I assume backpressure since I didn’t have anyway to measure backpressure. Once I disable vtec it revs fine to 9000rpm. At last I switched back to Integra type r cams and car revved without any problem to 9000rpm. Well, the engine did take damage from the backpressure and I broke a valve.

So this year I’m just running a stock b16a2 engine with the same turbo. It was very slow on spool up, so I switched to the skunk2 pro 1 cams. It spools okey now, but my problem is that from 7200rpm the plex knock monitor is detecting knock. I’m running as low as 2 degrees of timing, but it still detects know. I’m also running without vtec for now.

It’s a stock engine with 10.2 compression, I’m running 98 pump gas with water/meth injection. At only 1 bar it detects knock. Is this because the cam are just to big for that engine? May I try to retard the cams a bit?

I solved the problem. I retarded the intake cam, and everything is fine now :)
