Hi Andre (or anyone with an answer),
I just finished watching your webinar on tuning a turbo set-up with ITBs.
I have a car that I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to get tuned for about 4 years. It wasn't until I saw your video that I realized why: I don't have a TPS; just a MAP.
An additional part of my tuning problem is that I live near Washington DC and there are VERY few tuners near here, and basically none that have ever tuned a turbo with ITBs.
Another part of my problem is that I am running an OMEX 710 ECU, which is a UK-made unit but unheard of around here. (It was supplied with my engine, which was built in Europe.)
Long story short, I need some help figuring out how to get a TPS rigged into my car, so that I can start doing actual tuning of this engine.
I would like to get a recommendation for a TPS of a type that would be practical to install on a 4 cylinder Jenvey-style ITB set-up.
Need to get this car finished before I'm too old to drive... :)
Hi Paul, you wouldn't necessarily fit a TPS sensor to the linkage as shown in your pic. There will likely be a location for the sensor on one end of the throttle bodies. usualy there will be a d shaped shaft on the throttle bodies to drive a TPS sensor and a 2 bolt flange you can bolt one to. If they are Jenvey ITB's then this should be straightforward. Jenvey even sell sensors on their site. I'd recommend a hall sensor like this one - https://store.jenvey.co.uk/throttle-bodies-and-components/throttle-position-sensors/tps-contactless-tp3
I can't comment on the ECU sorry as it's not one I've ever come across. You will need the ability to run 4D compensation so you can schedule the main fuel table based off TPS and have a second table based off MAP too.
As Andre said for the TPS, and if you don't have the hardware manual - http://omextechnology.co.uk/710%20Hardware%20Manual%202v11.pdf
Andre, thanks for the lead. Now that you mention it, I think I recall seeing that mounting surface. I will double check as soon as I get back out to the car.
Gord, yes, I actually have all of the OMEX manuals saved to my desktop, although my hardware manual is an older version. I did the wiring for the installation so I knew that the OMEX box would take a TPS signal, I just didn't know where to install the sensor.
Thanks again guys.
