how are you guys getting about identifying knock on the 4g63 I have used a link g4 knock block now since it came out really my issue is on the 4g63 I can’t tell if I have knock or it’s just the mechanical sounds of the lifters cams etc on a r33 grr I could hear knock crystal clear but lately I have prob tuned the last few evos so low timing wise with the fear of whether it’s knocking or not it’s just to dam hard to hear I have been setting up the knock detection on the g4 Ecu but that isn’t helping much because I would have to assume it’s knock free from the start in order to set the gains for each cylinder help guys I’m sending 500hp cars out that should be 650

Where are you mounting the knock sensor? I've used the knock block extensively on dozens of 4G63s and while some are harder to distinguish knock on compared to others, I don't typically find it too difficult. Provided you've got the knock frequency set appropriately on the Link ECU, you should see knock as large obvious spikes that are outside the norm - in other words there should be clear outliers in the trace that should make you suspicious.

The best place I've found on the 4G63 block is the bolt hole on the exhaust side of the block that's behind the turbo. Unfortunately it's a PITA to get to and much worse once the exhaust is hot.

Thanks for the reply Andre it could be a case I have never been in a position that’s caused knock on this engine and fear of damage is always in the back of my mind I am mounting the sensor in the location you have recommended using a sensor I drilled to m10 I did machine a bolt I used to use but it kept getting stuck in the block I will log one that I am doing today and also attach the Ecu file I have been using a gain of only 1 on knock control and still I have to turn each cylinders gain channel down to around 44 on 2 and 3 and 60 on 1 and 4 in order for engine noise to stay around 600 at 7000 rpm is that normal

so i did a log i will attatch it and the ecu file maybe you could have a quick look if ive missed something ive never had to run such a low amount of timing to be convinced theres no knock but this is where im at its running 99oct pump fuel 2.3l id 1050s gt3076 at 1.9 bar
