Im using a innovate LC2 wired to analog input 1 with my k24a and I’ve gotten the car running great in open loop and closed loop but when after I crank the car in closed loop the wideband is taking 30 seconds or so to start reading and until then it’s chasing the 7 afr the gauge reads until it warms up so I get a bad idle. The car cranks and idles fine in open loop. I’ve already tried letting the wideband warm up before cranking but the process starts over when I crank it. Idles good after the wideband starts reading. Is there a way to delay closed loop? Or is it another problem?

Sounds to me like you have closed and open loop backwards. The wideband is used in closed loop, and ignored in open loop. So you would expect the engine to start in open loop and only go to closed loop when the wideband sensor is considered to be heated and reading accuractly (the 30 second delay).

Can you tell what the trims are (when it's running well in closed loop) and apply that to the main tables so it runs good in open loop?

Are you using larger injectors than stock? If so, is it possible the Coolant Temp compensations are in pulse width (i.e. milliseconds), so they need to be scaled back with larger injectors?

Many engine management systems have a delay time before closed loop operation post start to account for wideband warm up time, but your subject suggest you're using Kpro v4, which would be on a K series, and they have a stock wideband sensor which is what is used for fuel trimming.

An external wideband like an Innovate unit wouldn't normally be required, or impacting engine operation.

How have you set things up?

sorry for the late reply im out of town except weekends. heres my closed loop and open loop startup datalogs. you can see that on closed loop it seems to idle fine after startup but goes from open to closed loop before the wideband cuts on which makes it idle bad until the wideband cuts on. ive got one possible solution which im not sure i want to try yet, ive only got 1 wire from lc-2 going to analog input 1 on the ecu and no ground going to the ecu, its possible that im supposed to have the ground from lc-2 going to the ground by the analog inputs but instead i have the ground going to the negative battery terminal

heres the tune. first tune ive done so the issue could be in there

When using an analog wideband, the sensor ground wire goes to an ECU sensor ground, not power ground, to reduce voltage error skewing lambda readings.

In terms of your original issue, using a stock wideband is the solution for closed loop operation post start, since the stock unit warms up and is operational when the system expects.

It will also be more accurate since you won't have the additional voltage offset concerns from the external wiring/wideband controller.

thank you. i believe for the time being ive got a fix which will only cause me to have to leave the key on until the wideband warms up, i figured out that my power source for my wideband is dropping to 0 volts while cranking, im going to try to wire it into my windshield wiper motor wire seeing how i dont have wiper motors. its only dropping down to 9 volts. a shady fix but it may work. ill come back with the results and if it doesnt work will have to buy a stock wideband

Well… 9 volts is not enough to keep the innovate lc2 powered while cranking. Gonna resolve the thread and eventually try the stock wideband

Sounds good!
