Hey guys
It looks like there's a plethora of products that monitor tyre temp/pressures, using transmitters in the wheel stems which is cool.
I've recently bought some semi slicks and want to get the most out of them and ensure they arent going too high on pressure.
Has anyone setup CAN-BUS with a G4+ to datalog tyre temps/pressures so they're viewable in the datalogs?
Or otherwise, I've yet to find a setup that is a stand alone system that can datalog the results rather than just monitor in realtime.
Does anyone know of a product which does this?
Thanks
There are a variety of products on the market - None of which i have personal experience with unfortunately. I'd look at something like the TPMS from Texense - http://www.texense.com/en/produits/world-pro_1/tpms-tyre-pressure-monitoring-system-tpms-tyre-pressure-sensor-motorsport-tire-pressure-racing_107.html
This uses RF to recieve data from the individual sensors and then communicate the data via CAN. You could interface this with any ECU that has a configurable CAN bus and the Link G4+ would fit the bill. I'd configure the inputs as a CAN AN Volt input. Right now you can't assign a calibration or label to a CAN input though so you're going to be stuck with viewing the raw data and it will be displayed as a voltage rather than temperature.
Ahh that's a bit of a pain about being unable to rescale the can inputs.
Maybe I will just find one of the cheaper units that has a large visible display, and make sure it's in view of my in-car camera at trackdays.
Unless one of the phone based bluetooth options has a logging function.
Just a thought but you could use the Plex uSDM as a display. Obviously additional cost but they are quite well priced at about $450 USD. These have a totally configurable CAN bus so you can display whatever you want and use whatever units you like. You could put it on the same bus as the Link ECU and then display relevant ECU parameters too.
