Can the dyno speed be held fixed during the optimization process?
I believe so, that's how you optimize the torque at a given cell for Ignition Timing, or Cam Position.
It depends on the dyno type in use, an inertia dyno will typically not allow for a fixed engine speed to be held, whereas a retarder type dyno will be able to hold a specified engine speed within the limits of the dyno.
I didn't think mainline made inertia only dynos? Mainline can absolutely hold speed on all the models I was aware of.
Yeah, I missed the Mainline part of the topic when I replied, I though that it was a general dyno question.
Does anyone know where I can find operating instructions for a Mainline 4WD dyno please?
Any reason you wouldn't go straight to Mainline?
He's in China and the Chinese Gov'mint are notorious for firewalling almost everything off from outside China.
This question has been asked before, IIRC, and it's called something a little unusual - you could try a search here, for a start.
You could try contacting them directly, https://www.mainlinedyno.com.au/index.php , and watch Andre's introduction as it may also be of assistance - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75tlqPRWs1w
