Hi,

I have a spare ecu I want to use as a testing ecu as I start to learn, basically so I don’t leave myself stranded if I blow it up 🤣 it has same hardware number but different software and part number, both are for the CCZA engine.

I have a full read from boot mode, is it possible to load the EEPROM and flash onto the new ecu to have a carbon copy? This will also help as map locations are different and as I’m still learning I don’t want to get too deep too fast 🤣 or any direction of how to accomplish this would be really grateful.

Thanks.

Flashing may not overwrite everything. For example immobilizer may need set separately, and some vehicles will only pair one ECU to the other modules at a time. Hopefully someone with experience doing this on that specific platform will be able to offer insight.

Thanks Mike, the immobiliser I think has been copied over, or turned off I can’t remember what I did now, so the ECU runs on the car as it stands, I’m pretty sure the eeprom holds the immo data too, the tune currently on it has an issue where it leans out at high load/rpm, I think I have found some load limiters in the map that may be the issue, but for simplicity sake I’d like to put the known working tune onto the ECU so I know I’m not fighting an incompatibility issue somewhere if that may be the case. Although I could see it being a good learning exercise to overcome the current issue first.

If the donor ECU runs, the Immobiliser is disabled. On MED17 Ecus it’s stored in the EEPROM so in your case you don’t have to copy it over. What you want is the flash and you should be able to write the original flash file to your donor ecu.

Thanks PW, yea I honestly can’t remember if I did an immo off on the ecu or if I adapted it, as I did it ages ago, but it runs on the car regardless. I have both flash’s on the laptop so will give it a go and update here with my findings.

thanks.
